Cricket Club Honour Boards, Hundreds, Fifers and Captains Names
Acton Cricket Club an ash honour boards with a simple timber frame to display the names of club presidents and chairmen, team captains and players of the year.
Ash is a light coloured wood that usually displays an interesting and pronounced grain pattern.
It can also be dyed with a spirit woodstain to add colour as shown in the next boards displayed here;
these were produced for Ley's School Cricket Club and lists the players who have scored centuries or made a fifer.
The board is not framed with a separate timber moulding but a framed effect is achieved by staining the edge and a border area with a darker contrasting colour and a 10mm thick gold border line.
At the bottom of the page is a hill shaped oak honours board showing the names of cricket team captains of Cathedral School situated in Llandaff, Cardiff.
